The Toes Of A Troll: Foul And Unpleasant Looking Toes, And How To Treat Them

Tessa Jean

Care of your feet is more important than you realize. If your feet hurt, if they have problems with the toes or the joints, or they have sores that make it hard to walk, you cannot move as well as you may want. When your toes can only be described as those belonging to a troll in both sight and smells, you need to see a podiatrist. Here are all the unpleasant things that make your toes, well, unpleasant.

Severely Ingrown Toenails

When you have severely ingrown toenails, this makes your toes swollen, puffy, red, even purple or blackish in appearance. The pain is intolerable. If you have the strength to pull the skin back from the toenail where it is growing into the flesh, you will undoubtedly see a lot of green, foul-smelling pus. This is an infection caused by the toenail burrowing into the skin and taking some dirt with it. The best thing that your foot doctor can do is numb the toe, cut back the nail, remove the pus, and flush the wound with peroxide. They may instruct you to bathe the whole foot with the affected toes in Epsom salts and warm water at least once a day to help remove what remains of the infection.

Toenail Fungus

Along with the foulness, discoloration, and pain of the ingrown toenails, you may also be contending with toenail fungus. This causes your toenails to grow in really thick, yellow in color to a dark orange shade, and be impossible to cut. Some people get toenail fungus so bad that the toenails often fall off or peel off entirely! Other forms of toenail fungus result in toenails growing very long and curling crookedly over the tops of your toes or cutting into your other toes and you cannot seem to cut them. Your doctor will have a paint-on anti-fungal treatment for the toes, or a pill to swallow that can slowly address this problem over time.

Foot Fungus

Athlete's foot is a type of foot fungus, but this particular fungus of the foot nestles in between and around the toes, and grows a bacteria that makes your feet smell in the most horrible of fashions. Some liken the odor to soured milk, others to vomit, and a others to rotten garbage. However the fungus makes your feet smell (if you have it), your doctor you give you special soaps and rinses in which to bathe your feet to kill the smell, and possibly a medicated spray to kill the fungus entirely.

About Me
A Variety of Shoes

Growing up, I was never very interested in buying a large quantity of shoes to pair with my outfits. I rarely owned more than five or six pairs of shoes at any given time. I usually wore either my favorite pair of sneakers, boots, flats, or heels everywhere I went. When I married my amazing husband ten years ago, my shoe closet expanded. My generous spouse encouraged me to buy some several pairs of cute shoes to match my clothing. After shopping for new shoes, I was hooked. Now, I rarely wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Thankfully, I’ve learned that wearing a different type of shoe each day is good for my foot health. On this blog, you will discover the most important benefits of wearing a different kind of shoe every day of the week.
